| For nearly 115 years, the Limoneira Company has worked hard to support the growth and wellbeing of our neighbors and the City of Santa Paula.
As you may know a few weeks ago the Santa Paula City Council and Planning Commission unanimously approved our plans for enhancing our community and gave us the opportunity to amend the City’s Urban Restriction Growth Boundary and implement the 81-Acre Initiative to include East Area 1 on the June 3, 2008 ballot.
The East Area I project continues a strong Limoneira tradition of providing opportunities for all Santa Paulans to live, work, and play while preserving our city’s small town character, remembering our history, and improving our quality of life.
Located at the Teague-McKevett Ranch at Hallock Drive and Highway 126, East Area 1 will provide our community with many benefits including:
- More than 40% of the land preserved as agricultural and open space forever
- A new state-of-the-art elementary school
- $4 million for a new fire station and new equipment to protect our neighborhoods
- New, high-quality affordable homes for teachers, police, firefighters, health care providers, and city/county employees
- Almost double the recreational land we have today for sports fields
- $5.5 million toward the cost of a new waste water treatment plant
- Housing and conveniences for seniors to carry out an active lifestyle
- More than 1,000 new jobs created upon build out
